WorkOS Enterprise MCP Hackathon Debrief
The WorkOS team recently hosted a 2-day Enterprise MCP hackathon with approximately 100 attendees.
The WorkOS team hosted a 2-day Enterprise MCP hackathon with approximately 100 attendees. The event produced some genuinely incredible projects, with tons of folks building amazing things with WorkOS.
A huge shoutout and thank you to Lois Zhao who did so much of the organization for the event and without whom the hackathon would not have been possible.

The energy throughout the weekend was positive and collaborative, with multiple participants asking if they could use our office space for future events and coworking.

Event Logistics and Challenges
Space Management
The WorkOS office was buzzing with about 100 people - right at the sweet spot before things get too crazy.
Managing speakers, judges, food orders, and keeping everything running smoothly was a big lift, but the team pulled it off.

The team managed booking, food ordering, and coordination of speakers and judges, though this required significant additional effort beyond the core event planning.

Resource Depletion
We completely depleted every Coke Zero, ounce of coffee, and snack in sight. Multiple Instacart runs were necessary just to keep everyone alive!
Beverages disappeared way faster than food, and we're definitely bulk-buying drinks next time and stashing them in the vault.
The Marathon Experience
Running a 2-day all-day hackathon is genuinely exhausting - our team spent most of the two days in a frantic state, bouncing between helping people debug code and cleaning up trash and problems.
While the energy was incredible, the intensity was real!

Standout Projects and Winners
We had winners across multiple categories, plus a people's choice award, but some projects really stood out from the pack.
WebMCP (Overall Winner)
The best winner by far was WebMCP - this project uses form elements in the DOM to dynamically create MCP server tools that AI can use to interact with web pages.
It also leverages WorkOS AuthKit RBAC access to determine which tools you can use based on your permissions. Some serious elite-level hacking happened here that had everyone's jaws dropping.
Documentation Server Innovation
One team built an MCP doc server with a brilliant approach - rather than serving up all context at once (like Context 7), it starts with a single Markdown file explaining where all the docs are and then sequentially walks through all the relevant hyperlinks in that Markdown until it finds exactly the right documentation.
This clever navigation system could change how we think about documentation serving entirely.
SAFE-MPC Security Scanner
On the security front, a team took the SAFE-MPC taxonomy and built a server that dynamically scans repositories of MCP servers for security vulnerabilities. With security being paramount in the MCP ecosystem, this project addressed a critical need with impressive technical execution.
More Amazing Projects
Beyond our main winners, we saw projects spanning creative developer tools to enterprise integrations.
The diversity and quality of submissions across the board were genuinely impressive, with many projects worthy of their own spotlight.
Community Building

We had lots of friends from the WorkOS family show up, including folks from Composio, Drata, Liquid Metal, Smithery, and others.
The collaborative atmosphere was amazing - people helping each other debug, sharing ideas, and genuinely rooting for each other's success.

What really stood out was how many participants are building their own companies and products. The entrepreneurial energy in the room was palpable, with founders helping founders and everyone learning from each other.
This is exactly the kind of developer community we love to see building around MCP technology.
